Somatic Shadow Work

SomticShadowWork

“Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.”

-Mark Twain

Every person has a dark side, or rather unconscious, suppressed aspects of the self which we keep hidden in order to protect ourselves.  However, these fractured shards of our selves will come to the surface in one way or another and can manifest in ways which can hinder our lives.  Depression, anxiety, addictions, disorders and a general feeling of being lost or not present in life are some of the many issues we deal with when our shadows are not integrated into our conscious awareness.

When these dark aspects are ignored they can also greatly affect the body as well.  Through stillness we can begin to feel what is present and what emotions are stored in the body. Once we can feel it, we can identify it and begin the work to integrate it.  However, becoming still isn't always an easy task and even then it can be frightening and daunting to face the things alone.

Somatic Shadow Work uses a number of techniques in order to guide you into your body, to feel what is present, to identify the shadows of the self, to work through the fractures in a safe and supportive environment and to integrate the shadow in order to become whole again and to truly BE the authentic self you were born to be.

Important Note About Shadow Work

It is my responsibility to inform you that shadow work can bring up some uncomfortable emotions which no one should deal with alone.  I will be there to support you during sessions and even outside of sessions if need be.  However, I am not a licensed psychologist or therapist.  I am a certified somatic practitioner and spiritual coach. I recommend doing this work parallel with a therapist you trust.  However, I understand that having access to a therapist or even finding someone who really fits with you can be a challenge.  Having someone you trust to support your journey is really essential and I hope to build trusting relationships with my clients.  Therefore, we need open communication.  I ask that if something uncomfortable arises that we talk about it.  I am also happy to be in communication with your therapist so that you can get the best individual support you need.  In addition, if you have special challenges such as; neurodivergence, mental health disorders, physical disorders etc. please inform me so I can tailor to your needs.

Testimonials

I received a Zoom-session from Kara as part of her completion of her BBTRS training.

Having been a Conscious Connected Breath facilitator for 29 years and also trained in BBTRS several years ago, I am delighted to share my feedback for her facilitation from this background.

Kara held an impeccable space for me. She was open to allow for resource-practices that have helped me in the past and seamlessly incorporated them in her facilitation.

One of my initial requests, that she point out to me whenever she detected any patterns of “leaving my direct feeling-experience", was met with great skill and acute attentive presence. She skillfully brought my habitual departures to my attention without judgements. I gained great insights and was able to receive the blessings of my feeling-experiences by staying in them without leaving for extended periods of time.

Her guidance enhanced what was already taking place and broaden my horizons of how to facilitate by going back and forth, from felt sense to the actual unfolding of feeling experiences.

We went from deep root and pelvic diaphragm awareness all the way up to the hemisphere of my skull and beyond. The resulting “whole being presence” tickled my pineal gland and gave the most delightful somatic immersion I have had through a facilitated session.

I learned so much about myself and the potential of breath-work.

I am grateful for having spend these 90 minutes in her presence as facilitator and would recommend her work to any of my clients.
