About Me

My name is Kara Michelle and I am an American born artist, musician and somatic practitioner with a focus on shadow work.  I currently reside in the northern German city, Flensburg.
Like many, my early life was not easy and my lifestyle as an artist and musician soon became very chaotic and unmanageable. It didn't take long for my suppressed emotions and trauma to begin manifesting itself as anxiety and depression, as well as physical problems and pains.  Without a solution and without an inner compass I found my own unhealthy coping mechanisms which followed and haunted me for many years.  I feel I can definitely say that I have been to hell and back many times, but I believe that "hell" can be an rich, earthy catalyst where one can plant seeds and begin a journey of change. It certainly was for me.
I have dedicated the last decade of my life to my own personal development and bringing my shadows to light. Through therapy I have confronted my demons but I wanted to dig deeper.  I began reading and researching about different somatic practices.  This led me to Breathwork, yoga, sound therapy, shadow work... the list goes on and my curiosity continues as well as my passion for learning more.
I am a certified Biodynamic Breathwork & Truama Release (BBTRS) online practitioner, a certified yoga teacher (shamanic tantra yoga), studied Breath Focused Voice Training and Middendorf Breathwork at Das Institut für Atemzentrierte Stimmbildung and studied sound therapy. I am now starting a new training adventure as a spiritual coach.
During this transformative decade I have not stopped creating art and music, and I feel that what I create is a deep part of my process.  Through my dark art and music I express the shadows within and bring them to light/consciousness.
I would like to share that I have received some criticism from some people within the spiritual community because of the dark nature of my art and music.  I do understand that it makes some people uncomfortable and I accept this.  But I also feel very deeply that we need to confront the dark parts within us as well as looking to the light.  Without darkness we cannot see the stars. Without the understanding of what imprisonment is we cannot fully understand freedom.  Through our suffering we can come to an understanding and appreciation of bliss, gratitude and love. We can also become lovingly empathetic to others.
Today I work as a professional bodypainter, installation artist and performance artist.  However, I also offer online and in person Somatic Shadow Work sessions.  I am currently creating a somatic workshop which combines bodypainting, authentic expression together with traditional somatic practices.
Have a look at my services for more information or sign my mailing list (under Contact). I look forward to meeting your shadows.
